Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist

Contract: 12 - 24 month fixed term
Salary: £105, 504 - £139, 882 p/annum (On call supplement is 3% of the basic salary)
We are currently partnering with an NHS Trust in the midlands who are seeking a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to support and engage effectively with a larger multidisciplinary team and range of professionals.
You will be joining one of the largest and most complex Mental Health Foundation Trusts in the country. The Trust operates out of more than 50 sites and serve a culturally and socially diverse population of 1.2 million spread over 172 square miles.
The post holder will be based in one of two Community Hubs looking after adults over the age of 25 years.
This is an exciting time to join as the trust are working towards implementation of the NHS England community transformation programme, a place-based community mental health model envisioned as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.
New Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams are in place to support integration of care systems and provision of better care for our patients by improving access to care closer to their home.
An indicative job plan: 7.5 PAs Direct Clinical Care (DCC) 2.5 PAs Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).
Key responsibilities for the Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist role:
- Consultation and liaison with GPs and primary care teams to establish meaningful relationships and optimum alignment across primary, voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. This may include visiting local practices, joint MDTs, joint training and quality improvement sessions as well as joint visits and consultations with patients in the community.
- Support the development of local policy and practice around shared clinical responsibility to include consultation, liaison, supervision and joint/collaborative ways of working.
- Participation in management duties including membership of committees, assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Actively contribute to the clinical governance programme in the local hub / team and to the CMHTs' overall clinical governance agenda as well as to the programme's audit, research and Quality Improvement priorities
- Involvement in the teaching of Resident Doctors and medical students. To take part in the Directorate academic programme. The post-holder may also be asked to participate in the teaching of non-medical staff.
- Contribute to the Consultant on call rota.
Minimum requirements for the Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist are:
- Full GMC registration
- MRCPsych or equivalent Eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983) and Approved Clinician status.
- MRCPsych or equivalent.
- Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register.
- Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level.
- Commitment to clinical audit within multi-disciplinary team.
- Evidence of potential for effective leadership.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service.
- Willingness to be involved in management of service.
- Able to travel.
